The national park is alocated in central Dalmatia downstream from Miljevci, and only a few kilometers northeast of the city of Šibenik.
It covers the area along the river Krka, which springs at the foot of the Dinara mountain near Knin, flows through a 75 km long canyon, flows through Lake Prokljan, and flows into the Šibenik Bay. It covers 109 square kilometers, of which 25.6 square kilometers is water surface.
