About the Krka national park

National Park

Krka became a national park on January 24, 1985 and is the seventh national park in Croatia. It is known for its large number of lakes and waterfalls. The Jaruga hydroelectric power plant below the Skradinski buk waterfall is the second oldest hydroelectric power plant in the world and the first in Europe. It was built on August 28, 1895, just three days after the world’s first hydroelectric plant at Niagara Falls.

Today, the Krka River has 7 travertine waterfalls and its beauties are a natural karst phenomenon, which is recommended to visit in spring and summer because then it is in full glory, and you can refresh yourself in clean water.
